Days before starting high school, a 13-year-old boy is killed in East Oakland

With his athletic skills, leadership abilities and magnetic personality, 13-year-old Jimon Clark's future was bright.

A track star at Frick Middle School in East Oakland where he graduated in June, he was looking forward to his first day of classes Monday at Skyline High School and his 14th birthday two days later.

But the young man who seemed to have everything going for him will never realize his potential. He was fatally shot Wednesday night as he walked with another youth a few blocks from where he lived, a short distance from the middle school. Jimon was raised by his single mother and grandmother he leaves  8 brothers and sisters his family need help with burial expenses as well as clothes for the children.
